MHI International, Inc
Volunteer Opportunities Thank you for your interest in MHI international Mission. We depend on the generosity of people like you to assist the people in need of help, especially those whose lives would be worthless without your prompt intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Below are some of the volunteer opportunities offered by MHI International. Mental Health professionals: These volunteers include psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, psychiatric nurse, mental health counselor, social worker (under mental health), family therapist, and public health administrator (background in mental health). These professionals will be sent on assignments to various MHI’s locations (Clinical Outfits) for a minimum of 4 weeks. Administrative positions: For those who have administrative skills and experiences and want to volunteer at any point during the year, MHI International will need their services. Some volunteers in this category will work closely with mental health professionals as support staff or as Field Coordinator or Office Administrator or Safety and Security Officers in mission countries. Domestic volunteer positions: These are for part time or full time opportunities to volunteer at MHI’s offices in Miami Florida, Denver Colorado, and other administrative needs that are necessary to carry out MHI's missions. They will be assisting in various administrative tasks as needed. Graduate Internship Program: Designed for mental health students under training, whose universities have programs for them to receive classroom or clinical credits for working with international NGOs. Internships are accepted on need-basis and on the availability of qualified supervisors and clinical environment that supports clinical supervised programs. In some cases, volunteers may be required to pay some part of their traveling expenses unless MHI International has secured funding for that cost. In most cases, volunteers are reimbursed for their immunization (which is compulsory for all volunteers on overseas mission). In some cases, volunteers would receive a per diem for their room and board. In most cases, volunteers will share housing, receive emergency medical evacuation insurance, and malpractice insurance (for applicable health professionals) In some cases, volunteers can receive stipend Training/Orientation: All volunteers (foreign and local) must receive orientation relating to the nature of their jobs, social and cultural issues, living accommodation, and security before engaging in field work. There should be daily briefing and debriefing of active volunteers, especially in areas where security is volatile. Other information will be provided as your application process progresses. If you are still interested to volunteer, please move to the nex level.
Cross-Cutting Theme (CCT) professionals: These are professionals that are not directly related to mental health, but are necessary in addressing population, topic, activity, intervention and program that do not apply directly to mental health, but are basically essential to achieving successful and sustainable results. This type of interdisciplinary coalition is needed especially in psychosocial rehabilitation programs, where water, food, education, nutrition, medical care, and recreation may be needed as a part of treatment plan to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, impulsive and aggressive behavior, etc. In this case any related professionals can be requested to join the mission.
If selected, volunteers may receive compensation from MHI International. Compensation can be material reward or reimbursement or cash or gift certificate in appreciation for a service or help rendered directly or indirectly on behalf of MHI International. The monitory amount and value of the compensation may be fixed, negotiated, or discretionary.
